THE NINE ARCH BRIDGE IN ELLA | SRI LANKA
THE NINE ARCH BRIDGE IN ELLA | SRI LANKA
Ella is has become one of the major tourist hotspots of Sri Lanka and it is largely due to the epic scenery and hikes in the region such as Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak. However, the smaller attractions, hidden gems, and laid-back vibes of the town keep people in Ella for up to a week at a time. One of those unique attractions is the Nine Arch Bridge in between Ella station and Demodara station.
NINE ARCH BRIDGE IN DEMODARA, ELLA
The Nine Arch Bridge in Ella is on the Demodara loop and spans 91 meters at a height of 24m. The beautiful nine arches make it a very picturesque spot especially as it is located in a dense jungle and agricultural setting. Behind the railway, a forest is booming, and below, tea leaves are being cultivated.

Organize a Tour
If you are in Ella and looking to visit Little Adam’s Peak but also want to see Ella Rock and the Famous Nine Arch Bridge, a great day-tour packs it all in. It’s extremely good value considering you can tick off all three attractions in just one day for about $70. It is called the Ella Three Icons Day Tour.
How to get to the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella
The bridge is actually quite close to the main street in Ella town. A tuk-tuk will take you there for 200 rupees or you can enjoy the walk through the jungle for 20 or so minutes. You can access it from either side of the railway. The side we came down to meant we had to trek down for 10-15 minutes as there was no tuk-tuk access but if you aren’t up for the trek and adventure you can literally get dropped right at the bridge in a tuk-tuk. With so many epic spots like the Nine Arch Bridge spread out over Sri Lanka, it will be my best advice to plan your trip in advance with a guide like this 10-day Sri Lanka Itinerary.
